I need to start creating my online identity. I only have a few bits of information online about me and it seems to be on background check sites. The only things that I have that is linked to social media is the twitter account that I created in class. I got rid of my Facebook and Myspace accounts a few years ago since I was not using them. I need to think on how I can further create myself into being when it comes to online. It would be great when someone search my name that they saw that I was a teacher and that I use the web to further my student's education. Looking back at the reading we had to do I can see how social media can be both good and bad. Yes, there are issues when it comes to the internet but it is a great tool for learning. Students can find out about all sorts of topics as long as they are taught how to search. By putting myself out on the web as an educator it can help not just in my school but with other educators as well. We can make connections and share new ideas. I am thinking that I may have to recreate a Facebook account to start this process or make my twitter account a professional tool.
